Our church members have been linking up with Grace Church Cardiff to support them with their Make Lunch initiative in Grangetown.

Through the school holidays Grace Church provide a lunch service to the local community. People of all communities are welcome to register with Grace Church and bring their kids for fun games, arts, and crafts, finishing up with a delicious meal.

Make Lunch has been setup by Grace Church to help families during school holidays, to ensure families have a resource like this if the pennies are tight.

Here are the photos of the latest Make Lunch event that takes place twice a week through the summer holidays every Wednesday and Friday in Grangetown.

Why do we do this? Well, it is simple the Bible teaches us to serve one another especially the community.

Romans 12:10,  “Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves.”

The Bible has some wonderful simple principles, to love one another, be kind to one another and serve one another. We reflect the love of Jesus within the community, this love helps the community.

On September 7^th, 2023, we will be hosting an ongoing new toddler group here at the Canton Community Church run by Shining Stars Nursery School.

Shining Stars will be running the toddler group every Thursday (Term times only) from the 7^th of September 2023 from 9.30am to 11.20am.

The Shining Stars Nursery School will be opening their nursery in autumn 2023, stay tuned for more announcements.

We have some exciting news to share. We are going to be linking up with Grace Church in Cardiff.

Grace Church will be planting a church on Sunday afternoons from The Church in the Avenue from Autumn 2023. We are currently working with the leadership of Grace Church and are excited that we are going to be sharing the good news of Jesus with people all around Canton and the surrounding areas.

There is a lot happening at The Church in the Avenue. Don’t worry our normal morning services will still be running every Sunday morning. These are:

• Communion service starting at 10am to 10.30am
• Family Service starting at 11.15am.

We serve teas and coffees as well as other refreshments from 10.45am. Come along and join us you will be warmly welcomed.

During this recent meeting at The Church in the Avenue we gave a presentation of the history of the church, and how it all began back in the 1930’s to the current day.

When we come into relationship with Jesus, he will restore us into a new life. The old life and all the past mistakes and disappointments will disappear, forgiveness and a new hope is available, where you will develop peace as you go deeper into the Christian faith.

Lets look at some testimonies where people have come from challenged backgrounds and how they have turned their lives around once they invited Jesus in, first we look at Joanna’s story

No matter what your circumstances Jesus can turn it around for you. By inviting him into your life you can develop peace through Jesus and walk in light.

If you have any questions about the Christian faith and how a relationship with God can help you in your life, then join us on a Sunday morning. We serve refreshments from 10.45am. We will be happy to receive you and answer any questions you might have.

We have good news for people who think there is no way back in their lives. Jesus is in the business of giving out 2nd chances, and not just 2nd chances but 3rd, 4th and 50 chances. So if you are lost, hurting or suffering with some form of addiction it can all be turned around through the grace that Jesus offers us all.

It is confirmed in the Bible that Jesus mercies are new every morning, in the book of Lamentations.

Isn’t that good news, that when we mess up, we can count on Jesus’ mercies being re-newed every morning. Not only this but in the book of Hebrews it says:

It means when we mess up and make mistakes as we will inevitably do, we can get up, dust ourselves down and try again.

Grace is defined as God’s un-deserved favour and he pours it over us. The 2nd chances are there for you if you have been devastated by the following and think there is no way back:

• Alcohol abuse
• Drug Abuse
• Violence
• Been involved in crime
• Been victims of crime

Whatever pain or hurt you have experienced in life, we can all have confidence in approaching God’s thrown of grace to receive mercy, and have that second chance of life no matter how bad the past has been.
